Sarah Palmer Volleyball

Having been a Hawaii volleyball fan for 35 years included paying close attention to players at all levels in the sport. On September 4, 2010, I had the pleasure of watching one of Hawaii's own start her first college game. Sarah Palmer had always been an impressive player at Hawaii Baptist Academy. Saturday it was her turn to step on to a stage with one of the nations top division 1 teams as a starter.

Gregory gym, on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin, would be the setting. The lady Longhorns would be going for the teams 1,000th victory. Texas suffered their first loss of the season the night before. The team turned to Sarah to start in the libero position against the always-competitive Long Beach State.

It's always a good thing when second team All American Juliann Faucette holds your hand.

Texas won the match in five games. Sarah made a strong contribution to the Longhorn's victory with 15 digs and extraordinary pinpoint passing.
